About NIA Minimize
Vision The vision of the Nashville International Academy is to become a community of learners and leaders dedicated to educating the mind, body and spirit of each of its members according to the principles of Islam and the best practices of education. School History - The Islamic School of Nashville was founded in 1995 to address the needs and concerns of the Muslim families in the area. The school, originally just a house on 11 acres of land, was expanded in 1998, with the addition of one new portable, bringing the total number of classrooms to eight, and serving grades Pre-K through eighth grade. The school continued to grow to an enrollment of almost 100 students. In 1999, the school was re-named Nashville International Academy (NIA), with grades Pre-K through 6th grade. In addition to the name change, 5 new portables were added, allowing each grade to have its own classroom. The additional portables allowed for the expansion of the Musalla to accommodate over 100 students, a library and a science laboratory. In 2002, a separate study of Quran was offered for the students. In 2004, our Pre-Kindergarten became state certified. Also, in 2004, a computer laboratory was created. NIA has been striving for over 10 years to support the needs of Nashville and its surrounding growing Muslim communities. Educational Philosophy - The Nashville International Academy is an inclusive and supportive learning community. We believe that every child is unique and special and has the potential to bring those qualities to our society. Our goal at the Nashville International Academy is to nurture the potential in every child while promoting both educational excellence and spiritual development in a safe, supporting and stimulating environment. As teachers in the classroom we believe that our role is to develop the potential within all children. We understand that this can only happen with hard work, dedication and parental involvement. We believe that strong communication between home and school forms the basis for the caring, nurturing, family atmosphere that is essential to the NIA. This type of climate promotes an excellence in teaching that results in high academic achievement and enables children to realize personal excellence at all levels.
